This case study illustrates how to implement a SAN-based synchronous mirroring solution that provides a real-time synchronized second copy of data over a six-mile (10 km) distance. Using the synchronized mirroring function provided by Softek? Storage Provisioner software, a campus-wide mirror was created over a 10 km distance to provide a high availability solution in the event of primary storage failure.
This case study demonstrates data availability in the situations of storage or storage data path failures. The focus was on setting up a realistic SAN-based solution using 1GB fibre channel technology. This functional demonstration was not optimized for maximum performance.
